Fact 2 on 14th Dynasty: The previous rulers were located in the city of It-tawy, but their successors set up their power base in Xois, further north in the center of the Nile Delta region of Lower Egypt. (Xois is located at the modern village of Sakha in the Governorate of Kafr el-Sheikh). Fact 3 on 14th Dynasty: The Xois based rulers were limited in their powers, they were in close proximity to the Hyksos who were based in Avaris and constantly extending their territory in Egypt using their military expertise. Fact 4 on 14th Dynasty: According to Manetho, the ancient Egyptian historian, the line consisted of 76 Xoite kings who ruled for 184 years. Seventy-two of the names Manetho listed were confirmed using the Turin King List papyrus. Fact 5 on 14th Dynasty: Xois was an important center of worship of the god Amun-Ra. Fact 6 on 14th Dynasty: The Xois rulers had little impact on the history of ancient Egypt and reigned as local kings. Fact 7 on 14th Dynasty: The later kings are believed to have paid tribute to the Hysos who eventually deposed these local kings and took over the rule of the Nile Delta.
